Lancaster Vs Liverpool 12th July 2003
The view from Lancaster LANCASTER 26 Liverpool Buccaneers 20
After shooting into an early 10-0 lead thanks to Andy Garnett and Dave McVernon tries, Liverpool squared things up by half time thanks to a brace of tries from winger Steve Smith. In the 2nd half, Lancaster were first to strike when Liam Hall touched down but the visitors hit back with two quick tries to Phil Evans and John Harris. The turning point for Lancaster was the introduction of experienced forwards
Lee Harvey and Shaun Humphries. Both men took their side forward, maintained
possession and were a rock in defence. Lancaster levelled matters when
man of the match Greg Sykes went over from acting half and the icing on
the cake was provided by the effervescent Dave McVernon who plunged over
for the winning try with just 4 minutes left on the clock. RK Fitness Man of the Match : Greg Sykes |
