The view from Lancaster
CHESTER 58 LANCASTER 8
Wolves maintained their hopes of the divisional title with an emphatic win over a gallant Lancaster side, scoring eleven tries in the process.
Stephen Curphey opened the scoring in the second minute, after good work by the home pack, brother Duncan chasing his own kick to cross three minutes later. The visitors lost possession soon after, Peter Bowden offloading to John Williams to make it 14-0 after only eight minutes.
Lancaster refused to be daunted and hard working prop Liam Hall reduced the arrears with a fine charge. Two touchdowns in six minutes by Paul Curphey put the Wolves in total control before a sweeping length of the field handling move saw Matt Drinkwater send in Matt Callon. Bowdens try just before half time made it 36-4 and a minute after the break Williams sprinted forty metres for his second touchdown.
Carl Rawes in his last game for Chester before joining the Army got on
the score sheet, Andrew Raines replying for the visitors. Late scores
to Drinkwater and Bob Merrill touchdowns completed the decisive win.
